EF 4.2 = Bug Fixes + Semantic Versioning

Oct 11, 2011 at 6:14 AM

The EF June 2011 CTP is holding me back from getting my hands dirty in kigg4. According to Microsoft, EF 4.2 is just a small update to the DbContext & Code First runtime. The features that were included in EF June 2011 CTP require changes to the Core Entity Framework Libraries that are part of the .NET Framework and will ship at a later date.

Is it possble to try out the Kigg 4 without using the EF June 2011 CTP? Or can you make it to work with the EF 4.2?  Thanks.

Can't switch. EntityFramework.Preview 4.2.0.1 on nuget is based on EF 4.0 core (System.Data.Entity.dll 4.0) which doesn't support Enum.

Enum support is going to be part of the EF Core and not part of the outbound update.

I just posted a question about this in the forums yesterday :( http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/eu/adonetefx/thread/d5b3a727-981d-4a02-a9ce-3e33dc1604f4

Sorry for that, but got to stick with Enum support. It's really awesome.

Thanks for the update.  It sounds like we have to wait for the .NET 4.5 release, which will be some time next year.

In the mean time, Is there any temporary walk around I can use to make Kigg4 work with EF4,2?

I'm sorry but nothing in my mind at the moment! I need to stick with EF4.2 CTP and keep the solution up to date with subsequent release of it till .Net 4.5 release

Really sorry for that.
